50 years in Luxembourg, a strategic hub for Intesa Sanpaolo’s Group

LFMA was honoured to join the celebration of the 50th anniversary of Intesa Sanpaolo Bank Luxembourg, at a reception on 11 June at the Cercle Cité in Place d'Armes.

Intesa Sanpaolo Bank Luxembourg is one of just six institutions designated as Other Systemically Important Institutions by the Commission de Surveillance du Secteur Financier, among the roughly 115 banks operating in the Grand Duchy today.

The evening brought together the Prime Minister of Luxembourg Luc Frieden, the Minister of Finance Gilles Roth, and the Ambassador of Italy to Luxembourg Carmine Robustelli, alongside leaders of the local business and financial community.

Prime Minister Frieden noted that the evening was an occasion to commend the many important institutions that have chosen Luxembourg and helped shape it, a milestone that also reflects the more than 120 years of diplomatic relations between Italy and Luxembourg.

Mauro Micillo, Chief of Intesa Sanpaolo's IMI Corporate & Investment Banking Division, spoke about the expertise and relationships of the Division's International Network, and the role Intesa Sanpaolo Luxembourg plays in allowing the Group to act as a key player across European markets.

Massimo Torchiana, Managing Director and CEO of Intesa Sanpaolo Bank Luxembourg, looked back on fifty years of continuous growth since the establishment of Société Européenne de Banque in 1976 on the initiative of Banca Commerciale Italiana, highlighting the Group’s sustained confidence in Luxembourg as a financial centre.

LFMA congratulates Intesa Sanpaolo Bank Luxembourg on this milestone and thanks the whole team for their continued partnership and support of LFMA initiatives.
